A 3-step development programme

Step 1: Foundational Course

Through a foundational 8-weeks course on “Mastering Doctoral Supervision” participants will:

Gain fresh perspectives from analysis of their own doctoral supervision experiences, learn from peer insights, and leverage relevant web resources.
Develop core competencies in doctoral research supervision, enhancing their ability to guide doctoral research novices with confidence and clarity.
Transform their rich professional expertise into effective leadership in doctoral education, making a lasting impact on the future of scholarship.

Upon satisfactory completion of this course participants will receive a certificate.

Step 2: Targeted Trainings

Targeted trainings aim to apply the learnings from the foundational course within a safe environment. These trainings adopt the format of workshops and residencies where participants will have the opportunity to practice, discuss and reflect on their supervision practices.

For accomplished trainings participants will receive a certificate.

Step 3: Co-Mentoring

The final step of the Doctoral Faculty Development Programme consists of a hands-on approach where participants will work alongside established doctoral supervision faculty to gradually move into practice.

For accomplished trainings participants will receive a certificate.

The initial foundational course has a duration of 8 weeks. The duration of the targeted trainings and co-mentoring period depends on the individual development.

Admission to the Doctoral Faculty Development Programme is free. Charges to the trainings apply.

Doctoral Degree, 5 years of professional experience.

If this initial criteria is meet our admission committee will evaluate the applications on a rolling base.

Only highly qualified applicants will be accepted to the programme considering both academic and industry expertise.

What are the programme fees?

The admission to the Faculty Development Programme is enterely free of charge.

Fees apply to the respective training offerings.

Programme members can benefit from discounted attendance fees.

Do I need to be a member of the programme to attend one of your trainings?

No. Most of our trainings offers are open to holders of research doctorates.

However, some trainings and networking opportunities are reserved for Programme members.

Is there a defined pathway through the programme?

The Doctoral Faculty Development Programme is an open-ended programme, meaning you can select training offers according to your future aspirations.

However, the foundational course (Step 1) and the co-mentoring period (Step 3) are mandatory elements to be successfully completed to be potentially admitted to the DoctorateHub GSBM Faculty.

Is the initial foundational course on Mastering Doctoral Supervision a mandatory training of the Doctoral Faculty Development Programme?

No, but it is highly recommended to attend this course at the start of the programme.

Our experience has shown that participants of this course develop a shared understanding about the essentials of doctoral supervision practices.
